Unlock Democracy merger ballot results

Article posted by Unlock Democracy

The members of Charter 88 and the New Politics Network voted to press ahead with merger in the all member ballot of both organisations.

3,534 Charter 88 members were issued with a ballot paper, of whom 1,156 returned valid votes. 833 voted for merger (72.1%) and 323 voted against (27.9%). This vote was validated at the Charter 88 OGM last weekend.

390 New Politics Network members were issued with a ballot paper, of whom 190 returned valid votes. 181 voted for merger (95.3%) and 9 voted against (4.7%).

Work is now progressing in earnest to merge the two organisations, and we will be consulting with members on how to move forward on this. In the meantime, if you have any initial comments on how the new organisation should operate, please add them in the Unlock Democracy section of the Talk Democracy forums.
