Strengthening the Network
Unlock Democracy will be relaunching our Democracy and Human Rights Hub service later this month and we would like to invite you to help us compile it with details about your organisations’ work.
At Unlock Democracy we are committed to building links within the pro-democracy and human rights community. We would like our members and subscribers to be up-to-date with everything going on in terms of events, workshops, conferences, campaigns, publications, news and vacancies related to organisations working with human rights and campaigning for democracy.
We first launched this service in 2008 but were forced to suspend it due to other projects. However, the service was moderately successful and we are keen to revive it.
Our email newsletter goes out to around 7,000 subscribers. In addition the Hub will be published on the Unlock Democracy website and available via our usual Facebook and Twitter feeds. In addition, we will be using Yahoo’s events listings service Upcoming (see below).
The newsletter will be out on the third Monday of every month. Deadline for submission is the Wednesday before (next newsletter on 16th November – deadline: 11th November).
To have your entries listed, please provide each entry in the following format according to which category it fits into:
Campaign News
Campaign Name (Organisation Name): Brief summary of campaign and any recent news [max 30 words]. Link: hyperlink
Research, Reports, Projects and Publications
Publication/Project Name (Organisation Name): Brief summary of publication/project/etc. [max 30 words]. Link: hyperlink
Jobs, Volunteers and Courses
Job Title/Course Name (Organisation Name): Brief description of role/course [max 30 words]. Link: hyperlink
Events
Event Name (Organisation Name) – date and time: Brief description of event [max 30 words]. Location: location. Link: hyperlink.
Alternatively, if you use Upcoming and tag your event with the Democracy and Human Rights Hub group (http://upcoming.yahoo.com/group/14980/), we will add your entry automatically.
Please be concise and remember to include a link as it will save us a lot of time.
