As well as campaigning, Unlock Democracy is currently working in a number of key project areas:
Strong parties, clean politics – political parties are fundamental to our political system. Unlock Democracy and its predecessor organisations have done extensive research into how they should be funded in ways that encourage political participation and activism at a local level.
Help to make political education personal – in November 2006 we organised People and Politics Day which is the largest political event aimed at schools and young people in the UK, and we are preparing for a follow up event in March this year.
We are currently co-funding a PhD project at the University of Manchester on citizen engagement across Europe.
Unlock Democracy is about thinking as well as campaigning. We also publish pamphlets, produce original research and organise seminars and public events.
