Tackling Voter Fraud

Unlock Democracy ran a campaign in 2008-2009 to highlight the problems with voter fraud in Great Britain, building on a report prepared on behalf of the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust by Dr Stuart Wilks-Heeg at the University of Liverpool (pdf).

Unlock Democracy ran a lobbying campaign to persuade MPs and government to support individual voter registration and increased security at polling stations (in line with existing practice in Northern Ireland) as the Political Parties and Elections Act 2009 went through parliament.  We successfully lobbied for a number of changes, including a commitment to introduce individual voter registration by 2014.
